Bali Stone Carving

Bali Stone Carving

Another Bali stone carving art is the stone carving. Talking about the technique used, it is not too far different from the Bali wood carving. The only different is on the material used. In the stone carving, the material used is a soft volcanic rock. Stone carving is probably not as the favorite of tourist consumerism. It is because most pieces made are too excessive and expensive to ship.

You can vividly see stone carving skills in the distinctive split gates, swirling stone friezes, and absurd and menacing mythological statuary. The centers for stone carving are Kapal and Batubulan.
